In March I had the opportunity to provide wedding photography services for one very sweet couple at a glamorous and romantic vineyard in the Livermore wine valley.  The Palm Event Center provides a variety of backdrops both within the walls of the banquet room as well as exterior on the perfectly manicured grounds.

You might have seen Leonard and Morrietta earlier on this blog with an outdoor engagement session in Vasona Park where the love was infused into every picture and as you can see below the wedding did not disappoint!

It was with extreme delight I can say that I have a photography assistant in training, although he might be small he is mighty.  On June 18 we welcomed into our family Oliver Lucas, he is happy, healthy and snuggled multiple times daily.

I am still taking time off this summer to be with him but will be taking a small selection of weddings and lifestyle sessions as I can so do not hesitate to reach out to me at any time.

All the best from this momma!

I love this session for two reasons, one because it was right before the holidays and you can see how wonderful the weather still was in California and two because it did not go quite as planned to start with but still turned out perfect.

I met Morrietta and Leonard at the Great Bridal Expo and shortly after we exchanged a few emails and set up a time to do a FaceTime session to get to know one another before they fully secured their March 8, 2015 wedding date to be held at the Palm Event Center and with the added bonus of a complimentary engagement session.   We talked about locations for the engagement session and had decided upon Vasona Park because of the amazing views of the lake and they really wanted the fall colors in the pictures.  Once we decided on the location a date was set for early December after I checked the park website a few times because I knew that the festival of lights was going to be starting very soon.  Everything was working out perfect as the festival was not slated to start till the next day so I packed up my gear and headed out.

Then the worst happened just as I turned the corner to head for the entrance I saw it, there were barricades up and a sign stating the park would close early that day for a walk-through preview of the lights, my heart immediately sank.  I quickly parked next door at Oak Meadow  and gave the couple a call to break the terrible news, we would either need to reschedule for January or we could use Oak Meadow for the day.  There was hesitation and I could hear the sadness about not being able to have the lake in the background but they had driven down from San Ramon so we moved forward with the shoot at our new location.  I am so happy that we did keep it as it reminded me that sometimes things do not go as planned but they still can turn out perfect!

Many of you know that I have two furry children Harvest Moon our cat better known as Harvie and Ginger our dog, both rescues and both bring so much joy and love to our household that I know adding one life to this house will just make it that much better.  We are expecting newest addition to arrive on July 1, this one of the human variety and gender still unknown.

If I could have found out what we were having the day that we found out we were pregnant I absolutely would have, the thought of getting to decorate a nursery puts a smile on my face.  We do get to find out very soon and once we do I am sure we will go in full force getting the second bedroom finished up, right now it is housing our kitchen cabinet doors as we have also decided to do some remodeling in the kitchen.

So you might ask what does this have to do with photography?  Well two things, you are going to see a bunch of newborn images come July and secondly I will be taking off time during this summer.  I will not be taking any weddings or events during May, June, July & August and I will only be taking limited lifestyle sessions in the very beginning of May and very late August!
